Ruins - beginnersguide

 Startersguide for Ruins.

this was posted at time of STR Ruins, now at the bottom updated with some remarks for AGI.

1. Select your 12 best heroes, then enter the ruins.

2. Set speed to X1.

3. Set mode to manual. (NO, that is not difficult)

Equip your 5 best heroes. And attack a green monster.

Activate all actives at once EXCEPT healing! Wait with the healing until a hero is down 50%. Play this way and you soon will get the feeling for it.

At this moment we have the STR ruins, which is a problem. You have Odin? Do NOT resurrect a dead hero at once because he will be killed again. Wait with the resurrection until his opponent is dead.

more about Odin: I give him energy equipment, the equipment you normally would give to Joan. Because he is to slow, but with the energy his active will trigger more. So: Web of Death with also energy on it, Hooves of Pegasus, relic Tear of the Mage, Darksight Helmet and Shell of Kraken. At start of the fight you can activate him, no problem. Later you might wait until you need the resurrection.

Next thing to watch: when you have killed 3 enemies, STOP activating everything. You will probably kill the remaining 2 heroes without any problem and then you will have full energy for all 5 heroes of you for the next fight. Just keep an eye on the fight and activate only when you get in trouble. It is important to have full energy on start of a battle, because your rings are boosting you only the first 6-12 seconds!

Then: You have a very important relic: The Blessing of the High Priest. Read it. If you are not yet using it already. So, when you won a fight but 1 hero lost much health, before attacking in the next round, equip that hero with this relic. And/or change his position to back. Do circle this relic every fight again.

When you get used to all this, after a green hero, and your energy is full, try a purple hero now. BUT: Do NOT attack an army with 2 healers. Do not attack an army with 2 dwarfs, do not attack an army with Night Blade or Phantom Assassin! Don't risk a backline hero of you getting killed. This means: pick your fights. Check the team first, and walk on to the next team if you do not trust the enemy.

You did win the Boss now? Nice. Try now again, but with CANCEL all benefits for the Boss. In the first levels you can easy do without them.

Did you loose the fight? Equip the next 5 heroes, they probably still will kill the boss. He did get his damage, that is not healed, it left him where you got him.

Did you loose a very important hero? Go find the boss location, you can resurrect there. Are you at the Boss for the final fight? How many heroes died and can you resurrect them all, then do so.

Agility

For Agility Ruins you need Luo. She does not have to be high level, mine is only 8* yet I reached level 33. But you should try to avoid teams which attack backrow heroes, like Phantom  Assassin and Night Blade.

My team was Sobeck (as tank with STR gear, later with VIT gear), Wolf, Rifleman, Luo and Alita. Luo and Alita both only 8* and PRI gear. When Alita dies, I change with Lance.

Sobeck is nice because he can use STR gear, lowers the speed of the enemy AND gives 25% plus to the healing of Luo. You need Luo for the healing, the delaying of enemies and her Serenity.

If you got to the boss with no losses, but the boss might be to strong, you can consider to first attack with 3 heroes. In my case: Sobeck, Rifleman and Wolf. They do quite some damage to his health. Resurrect them, and attack again with your full team.

NB: When you get the Bizarre Skin in AGI ruins, then do NOT use Lance, he might kill you. His left battle-skill will be reflected to 2 of your heroes. Same for Anubis and other heroes with nasty debuffs!

Update dd 08-08-2023

Much has changed since writing this article. So here is an addendum. We have several new important heroes of which 2 are this week with the STR Ruins very usefull: Athena and Gilgamesh. I hope you both have them. My team existed of: Oric 13* tank (PRI), Executioner 15* (STR) and Sobeck 11* (AGI) in front and Gilgamesh 9* (PRI) and Athena 13* (INT) in the back. Yes, no Odin.

For Gilgamesh, just as with Luo: she does not need to be high level, only being alive is enough! When pri does not do that, then give her VIT gear. She does NOT do any significant damage, she is a supporting hero, but a musthave! When GIL has thrown her stacks, then by that time Execute from the Executioner will be at 50% of enemies health, Athena will have done that damage and they all go down very fast.

If you do not have Executioner developed, I must advise you to really start doing that now, he is also very much used in the Statue of Hero. Sobeck, I already have mentioned before but I hardly see anyone using him. Too bad, even at - also - low level quite usefull and he can use 2 sets of gears.

Did you notice that I only have 1 hero with STR gear? While these are the STR Ruins? :-)

Update dd 30-09-2023

A possible set-up for Intelligence is:

Vampire tank with Light of Glory and pri gear (he does not need int gear and with pri he is supporting the other heroes) - Athena with int gear and Evil Befall (2x attack, 2x health absorption, 1x penetration resistance) - Joan with energy gear and Tear of the Mage - in the back Blood Mage with int gear and Shaman with pri gear. Relic for BM up-to-you and my Shaman normally has the Shelter of Silvanus with 1x pdef, 1x mdef and 3x penetration resistance.

My Vampire has LOG with 1x health absorption, 1x penetration resistance and 3x int. With LOG he does damage to all enemies for 12 seconds long and that is a big help here because he has many hitpoints. I suppose nearly everybody will have those 5 heroes, so you should be able to do quite some levels with this set-up.

Update dd 16-02-2025

How to not let a hero die in the Ruins, and how to use a suicide team.

When it is getting tough, go play at speed 1. As soon as a hero dies, immediately restart or shut down your device. Start up again. The game will resume in the Ruins, just before your last fight. So you can change positions or change your team. Or go to another enemy. Also use this at the boss, when you are using a suicide squad. Do not mention this ingame, sometimes developers are reading the chats, and they might change the game to prevent this.

Make that you reach the boss without losses because then you have 3 resurrections left. Then you can use a suicide squad. That works as follows: you send an army of 3 first to do initial damage. Then after, you revive them and attack with a full team.

Several times, your suicide squad will not do what you want, so you need to change it. But note: when you use Gilgamesh as tank - I strongly would advise that - , then your dps will of course do the most damage at the end of the fight. So, I would say, wait until you are at 10 seconds left, then decide if the damage done by this team, is enough to get the boss down when you use your full team. If not, restart now.  If yes, let the fight end, resurrect your heroes, and attack with your full team.   UNLESS when the boss is Cryoape. Cryoape heals more when there are more opponents. So it is best to attack him with teams of 3.

Current at this time was: INT Ruins with Magic Eater.   My Suicide team was:  Gilgamesh (VIT) tank, in the back Hamoudy (INT) with Kasumi (AGI).  Use penetration resistance  and  Health Absorption gems

PS: After thinking about a remark of a reader, now I think about it, if you have them, then it might be well best to ALWAYS have  in INT Ruins, both Gilgamesh AND Kasumi in the suicide squad. Because of both their enhancements of the damage. Third is then your best dps of course.
