My thoughts about relics and gems
Which relic on which hero?
Well, first of all: the benefit of the relic only last max 9 seconds. But your battles will normally last much longer, so here it is also important: which gems can I store into them.
Now, what relic to put on which hero depends on the situation. I am not going to name all relics, some I never use. But maybe after this you can decide for yourself whether to use them or not.
NB: This is my opinion, you do not have to agree with it. I do not have the globe of wisdom. Usefull addendums are welcome in the comments.
1. Buddhist and Light of Glory (LOG) both can contain 4 stones with primary stats. I give them to my 2 heroes who do the most damage. In casu most of the time Buddhist to Wolf and LOG to Vampire or Athena. (my Vamp has 520k health, that is 350k damage to all enemies, or 4 int gems for Athena)
2. Tear of the Mage is needed by a hero who needs fast energy at start of the game. To be short, that is Joan.
3. Vampire's Tooth. That should be obvious. The higher your hero's health, the higher the damage. Is it a surprise that that is Vampire? Or your tank. Before I had Buddhist I gave it to Wolf (frontright) to kill his opponent even faster.
4. Blessing of the High Priest. This is probably the most important relic in the game. Read my Ruins Beginnersguide. Normally when Bishop is my tank he is wearing this relic.
5. Evil Befall. Another very important one. The enemy is alway stronger in the first 6-9 seconds of the game so 1 of your heroes should have this equipped. In my teams, that is either Athena or Lance. I had filled it with 2 primary stones and 3 health absorption stones. But due to stronger enemies, it contains now 2x pri, 2x penentration resistance and 1x health absorption. If you do not yet have EB, then use Bone-crushing Pressure or Blade of Death depending on your major kind of damage.
6. Shelter of Sylvanus, goes to Shaman. I did fill it with 3x penetration resistance, 1x Phys Def, 1x Mag Def.
7. Might of Blood God is nice when you have a dps who is attacked early, so he/she can heal self, for example Blood Mage.
8. Is the enemy healing fast in beginning of game and you have high dps, use Herald of Death on some hero. Nice on Oric.
Note: some relics increase a stat for 6 seconds which actually means: in general for a maximum of only 7 attacks!! (6 in the normal sequence and maybe 1x your active).

Update dd 05-10-2023
Wolf is my main dps and also tank against the Dragon and in Expedition. But we are now in Expedition at level 160 and I have trouble keeping him alive. The Army Boosting Seal can hold 5 pentagons. I am going to try him now with 5x Health Absorption or 5x Penetration Resistance. I will let you know... Of course you can use this on any hero trying to keep him/her alive.

First look carefully what you need/want. Do you want to do more damage then for example you can put strength, intelligence or agility gems in your relics. According to the type of hero.
How to use gems in a relic: click 'Item', then tab ' Relics'.
To fill a relic with gems, click 'Details' then click 'Insert'.
